Copyright — Notice and Notice
834770 Alberta Ltd., operating as sensemakingwith.ai ("we," "us," "our"), is a Canadian company. We handle copyright complaints under Canada's "notice and notice" regime (Copyright Act, ss. 41.25–41.27), not the United States' notice-and-takedown process.
What notice and notice means
If we receive a valid notice of claimed infringement about content hosted on the Service, our obligation under Canadian law is to forward that notice to the account holder responsible for the content and to retain records that would allow the account holder to be identified. We are not required to remove the content in response to a notice — though we may do so at our discretion where it also violates our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy.
Sending a notice of claimed infringement
Email support@sensemakingwith.ai. To be valid under s. 41.25 of the Copyright Act, your notice must:
- State your name and address.
- Identify the work or other subject-matter to which the claimed infringement relates.
- State your interest or right with respect to the copyright in that work.
- Specify the location (for example, the URL or share token) of the material claimed to be infringing.
- Specify the infringement that is claimed.
- State the date and time of the claimed infringement.
By law, a notice must not include an offer to settle, a demand or request for payment, or personal information beyond what is required above. We will not forward notices that do.
What we do with a valid notice
- Forward it electronically to the relevant account holder as soon as feasible.
- Retain records sufficient to identify that account holder for six months — or one year if you commence proceedings and notify us within the six-month period.
- Let you know if we were unable to forward it, and why.
U.S. (DMCA) notices
We are a Canadian company and do not maintain a registered DMCA designated agent under 17 U.S.C. § 512. As a courtesy, we will process notices submitted in DMCA form through the same notice-and-notice procedure above. See our DMCA & Copyright page for context.
Repeat infringers
We may suspend or terminate accounts that are the subject of repeated, credible infringement notices, at our discretion.
